- There is another way. What is happening is that when you use Alt-P to change
- your bit rate (not baud, by the way), the PC is dropping DTR. The Hayes modem
- discontinues carrier. The other end also kills carrier. Your modem then times
- out and disconnects the line (assuming the other end doesn't). To fix the
- problem, before connecting issue the command ATS10=20. This will tell the modem
- to wait two seconds (20 1/10 second intervals) after losing carrier before
- hanging up the phone. Many RBBS systems already set this up, too. Try it!.
- The *HOOKER* is that *BOTH* sides must be setup this way. (Most BBS are.)
